A friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer whilst pregnant with her little girl and as breast cancer month is now upon us I have decided to raise some money for some smaller charities that do not have as much exposure as some of the larger charities that are supported at this time of year. I wanted to help donate to two charities that are close to my friends heart as they helped her during some hard times when she was faced with going through treatment and having a young child and a newborn.
100% of the money you spend of raffle tickets will be split evenly between The Willow Foundation and Mummy's Star.
Mummy's Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to women and their families affected by cancer during pregnancy and shortly after birth. They provide knowledgeable advice regarding diagnosis, benefit entitlements, employment rights just to name a few. They also provide emergency grants that can help directly support the mother and family for example cleaning services, help to cover costs of any unpaid leave taken by family members, carers and nannies this is just a small lists of ways they can help. I know that my friend holds this charity extremely close to her heart as they helps her tremendously during her pregnancy and continuing to support her and her family after her little girls birth. Please read more about this charity by clicking the link below as I have only touched on the amount of good they do.
The Willow Foundation is another charity that is based locally to me. They are the only UK charity specifically working with seriously young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable special days. Since 1999 The Willow Foundation have fulfilled more that 13,000 special days for young adults living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and huntingtons disease.
